Thistles Renewed

In October 2005 I posted this picture and suggested that city staff remove the thistles. They were located outside of the Police and Council entrance to City Hall.
Last week I saw that they survived the winter. At the council meeting a citizen mentioned the thistles during the meeting. They are gone today at long last. Who says the Council doesn't listen. Embarrassment is the key.

  • "Councilmember pleads guilty to charges" - Northglenn city councilmember Jim Miller pleaded guilty to harassment, criminal tampering and domestic violence charges Monday morning in an Adams county courtroom.

This was a front page story in the Sentinel of June 8. I have been watching with interest when Gene Wienecke would address this issue - but I guess thistles in a flowerbed is of more concern to residents. The mayor and Leslie Cullen are apparently the devil incarnate, but when one of Mr Wienecke's buddies on the Council is convicted of harassment, domestic violence and criminal tampering it appears that this is a non-issue - ho-hum!

The silence is deafening - but maybe Wienecke will let us know soon that Leslie Cullen was actually responsible for making Jim Miller threaten a woman and egg a car. I can't wait!

  • Hey dippy! Get to the meetings and listen then talk. Jim Miller is an issue in itself. On the other matters you will deserve what you get but the rest of us don't when the mayor is out of office and Leslie Kullen has moved on and you along with the rest of us are paying for their cutesy visionary outlook out our asses!

  • Maybe I'm missing something here - is this a council meeting or Gene Wienecke's blog that supposedly covers important issues for the citizens of Northglenn? - "you will deserve what you get but the rest of us don't when the mayor is out of office and Leslie Kullen has moved on and..." Are you on something psychedelic or are you just confused? Maybe you've been helping Gene pull thistles too long in the hot sun?

  • Gene must be bored if he's got enough time to watch weeds grow. And just think, the entire City would have been completely weed-free had he won the election. He should have mentioned his God-like powers from the start because maybe I'd have voted for him then. Because a weed-free City has it ALL together. That's the tell tale sign of a good City.

And to the other blogger, we all pay for things in this City... even many things we don't use, agree with or like. But since being a resident isn't a buffet of selections (I'll pay for this, but, hell no, not for THAT!), you accept the total package, knowing that no single government anywhere at any time operates flawlessly or without struggles.

Speak as your right allows - YEAH AMERICA! But understand that you may only be speaking for a few and not the majority. Or, quite frankly, just look the fool.
